Topic: McDonald’s Corporation Archives and RIM Intersection

The McDonald’s Golden Archives document  brand heritage in support of the business.
The archives collaborate with many business functions including management, legal,
marketing, records and information management, and restaurant operations. Grimace’s
Birthday, McDonaldland and the McDonald’s Collector’s Cups are programs which the
Archives supported. This discussion will highlight the collaboration with McDonald’s RIM
team in managing the lifecycle of records including the Archives digital preservation tool

About the Speakers: 

Mike Bullington, CA:

Michael Bullington, a certified archivist is the senior manager for McDonald’s Golden
Archives. In his role he is responsible for ensuring that the legacy of the McDonald’s
brand is preserved. He also works with the media relations team as an expert
spokesperson on McDonald’s history.

Prior to joining McDonald’s, Bullington served as an archivist for Kraft Foods Inc. and
Rush Medical Center.

Bullington served as President of the Academy of Certified Archivists. He is the past
Chair of the Illinois State Archives Advisory Board and the Illinois State Records
Advisory Board . He is a Member of the Academy of Certified Archivists, the Society of
American Archivists, the Midwest Archive Conference and the Chicago Area Archivists.
Bullington holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in history from Illinois State
University. In 2012, the Illinois State University Department of History recognized him
as a Distinguished Alumnus.

Cheryl Strom, MBA, IGP, CIGO

Cheryl Strom is the Records Information Sr. Manager at McDonald’s Corporation, leading
Corporate Records & Information Management (RIM) and Office Services Programs. With 30
years at McDonald’s, she develops and executes RIM and IG strategies to protect Brand
McDonald’s and mitigate risks. She holds total strategic planning, operational, budgetary, and
overall program responsibility to include leading cross functional teams in support of RIM and
information governance initiatives. She has over 30 years of experience in legal, records &
information management, real estate, and banking industries.

Cheryl holds an MBA in Finance and a BA in Business Administration and Political Science from
Dominican University, IL, and has earned her IGP and CIGO certifications and a paralegal
certificate. She is a member of ARMA, AIIM, and The Sedona Conference, and she has spoken
at various conferences and educational sessions on RIM and IG topics. She is the current
Treasurer for the ARMA Chicago Chapter since 2019.


She is passionate about advancing the RIM and Information Governance professions through
her strategic and innovated thought leadership.
